OUR PRACTICE

The Practice Areas of the Law Firm which centre around general Commercial 

        Practice and Private Law can be further subdivided as shown hereunder.

The firm undertakes a sizeable number of briefs on maritime and admiralty matters on behalf of clients both local and foreign. The foreign clients usually come by reference. Two of the Partners have participated actively in the Judges’ Conferences on Maritime Law held periodically in Nigeria. A partner in the firm is a registered member of International Maritime Arbitrators and has also

applied as a member of the Nigerian chapter.

* Communication and Media

Since the liberalization of the communication industry in the recent past, there have been sustained interest of new entrants into the industry and this has brought with it the attendant need for the services of professionals like Attorneys to give adequate representation to this class of clientele either in form of giving proper advice in ensuring compliance with the relevant regulations or defending their interests when appropriate. We have had cause to give legal representation to clients whose rights have been infringed upon in the industry.

We are conversant with the provisions of the Nigerian Communication Commission Act CAP N97 and National Broadcasting Commission Act CAP N11 and the relevant regulations thereto.

We render services to clients in the Oil, Gas and Energy Sectors. This ranges from rendering legal advice on industry issues, preparation of relevant instruments and representation in Court. We are equally abreast of the provisions of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act 2005. In addition, some of our Partners have attended Seminars and Conferences on Power Solutions and the Power Sector generally.

We render legal services to players in the Banking, Investment, Insurance and allied Industries. These players are either owned by the Government (Public) or the Private sectors. Our Partners are registered with the Apex Regulatory Agency on investment matters (i.e. Securities and Exchange Commission) as Consulting Solicitors.

* The Firm renders an appreciable amount of Corporate and Commercial Services to clients both on Retainership and on adhoc basis. These clients are into varied businesses including Oil and Gas, Merchandising of Engineering Spares, Brewing, Advertising and Marketing, Educational, Real Estate and other allied business.

We handle advocacy matters for our clients who cut across all segments of the society including blue chip Companies and individuals. The style of the firm is to explore the possibility of resolving clients’ disputes with their respective adversaries or narrow down issues progressively and it is when these fail that litigation becomes a usual resort. It is our belief that time is of the essence in commercial transactions and that commercial people can ill afford to waste time.

* Real Estate

The firm handles a lot of real estate matters for clients either in perfecting their respective interests therein or in defending their interests thereat when infringed upon. We have the resources and contacts to source for properties for clients whether based in or outside of Nigeria. Our strength in this branch of the Law is unarguable.

We are involved in advising clients on matters concerning immigration generally including procurement of visas and entry permits, resident permits, work permits. We have a collaborative arrangement with a Law Firm in the United Kingdom to attend to all immigration requirements of clients. 

* We are involved in the Legal aspects of Trusts and Administration of Estates for a good number of clients. Most of the clientele originate during the lifetime of the Founder or Testators who would have retained us in their bid to put their houses in order.

* We handle insolvency matters on adhoc basis and as and when we receive such briefs from clients. Our competence in this branch of the law is not in doubt as one of our Partners has been involved in real insolvency practice for well over two decades.

* We participate in the Capital Market as Capital Market Solicitors. We are duly licensed by the Securities & Exchange Commission to carry out this function and we have been engaged in several Capital Market transactions.

* The firm handles a lot of real estate matters for clients either in perfecting their respective interests therein or in defending their interests thereat when infringed upon. We have the resources and contacts to source for properties for clients whether based in or outside of Nigeria. Our strength in this branch of the Law is unarguabl.

* We are involved in constitutional matters including Election Petition cases, amongst others. Our Associate Firm successfully defended the National Assembly in a case brought against them by HURISLAWS.

* The Firm is an Intellectual Property Practitioner and have been involved in litigation, the registration and patenting of several

Intellectual Property Rights.


 

* The firm is engaged in several Master and Servant matters and renders advice to clients on labour and employment matters.

      

Aviation Law

The firm has handled several aviation related matters and is conversant with the provisions of the Hague Protocol and other international treaties on air travel and carriage by air.
